This piece is an interactive experience designed to integrate with the courtyard space while highlighting the importance of our earth’s natural resources. During the rains the bronze waterway will direct water to the hand made bronze bowl which then flows to the trees nearby. A meditative reminder that rain is an important “event”.
Primary Texas Tech crops are illustrated on the bronze relief: cotton, sorghum, sunflower and grapes. The ancient past of the soil in this region is revealed in the suspended stone on the west face. Visitors are encouraged to walk between the sculptures through the courtyard path.
